The Chief Administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), Gola Boyoi Gola, has directed government ministries to prioritize homegrown revenue generation as part of efforts to improve service delivery and strengthen the local economy. According to the Area Minister of Information, Jacob Werchum Juok, the Chief Administrator instructed every ministry to develop strategic plans aimed at improving services for the people of Greater Pibor. “The Chief Administrator emphasized the need for every ministry to develop a strategic plan that will improve service delivery to the people of Greater Pibor,” Werchum said. He added that Gola tasked the Economic Cluster ministries with identifying sustainable sources of local revenue to reduce dependence on external support. The first cabinet meeting comes days after the Greater Pibor Administrative Area announced changes to its government structure, a move authorities say is intended to improve governance and service delivery across the administrative area.
