Port Washington school board debates changes to student device policy

The discussion came during a second reading of a proposed personal device policy.
Regina McLean, president of the Port Washington Teachers Association, told the board that teachers were surprised to see the policy being revised after what they considered a successful first year.
Much of the discussion centered on how to define an “internet-enabled device.”
The board also discussed how the personal device policy fits into the district’s broader Code of Character, Culture and Conduct.
The board approved the code of conduct while acknowledging that the personal device policy could still be revised and incorporated later.
