51 YEARS AGOAugust 7, 1975Fifty-one years ago, the Jefferson County Little League softball team won the state championship. Jefferson County came back from a 10-1 drubbing to post a 9-6 victory over Tigard and claim the Division II (13-15) softball state championship at Gresham Saturday night. Tigard then battled back through the losers’ bracket to earn the right to play Jefferson County again for the state title. But Jefferson County got it together behind pitcher Molly Davis in the third go-around with their Portland area rivals. Tigard made the final moments exciting by scoring four runs before Jefferson County shut off the late rally and took home the state championship.
