Some much-needed road repairs are expected in Wallaceburg in the months to come. At Monday night’s council meeting, members will vote on awarding a contract for the reconstruction of Elgin Street between Forhan Street and Lorne Avenue. A report to council says Elgin Street has been identified as a priority for infrastructure replacement and road reconstruction, especially considering the repeated need for excavation and emergency repairs over the years. According to the report, the project will include the removal of the existing sanitary sewer, storm sewer and watermain along Elgin Street between Forhan Street and Lorne Avenue, as well as new sanitary and storm sewers to be connected to the previously replaced sections on Elgin Street and Lorne Avenue. The second phase is expected to begin in spring 2027, with overall project completion expected by August 2027.
