Steel Tipped Dove is a New York producer with many years in the game; he and backpack legend doseone released the collaborative album All Portrait, No Chorus last year. Both Defcee and Steel Tipped Dove are staples of the scene surrounding billy woods' Backwoodz label, so it's only right that the two of them have joined forces for a truly impressive new album. As the title implies, Defcee and Steel Tipped Dove's new collaborative LP We Will Be Brief is short and sharp, clocking in an less than half an hour. But that's plenty of time for Steel Tipped Dove's skronky production to make an impression and for Defcee to deliver a whole lot of intricately written lines with conviction. I especially liked this line: "We used to rhyme like Tom Waits over David Banner beats/ Look at where it landed me."
