As drought conditions continue across Eagle County, the Vail Golf Club has implemented Phase 2 water restrictions under its regulated management agreement with the Eagle River Water & Sanitation District. In order to protect the fairways as much as possible, the Vail Golf Club plans to implement Cart Path Only restrictions beginning Sunday, Aug. 9. The Cart Path Only restriction is intended to reduce stress on turfgrass during a period of reduced irrigation, helping protect the course from the golf cart traffic. Since the beginning of the 2026 golf season, the Vail Golf Club agronomy team has taken numerous proactive steps to reduce water consumption while preserving the quality of the course. Using plant growth regulators and soil wetting agents to improve water retention, reduce evaporation and lower overall water demand.
