As the Grasshopper Fire burns toward Mount Hood, the U.S. Forest Service is shutting down trail and forest road access. Effective August 4 through December 31, 54 trails and 24 forest roads in Mount Hood National Forest (MHNF) are closed. The Meadows area of Mount Hood was put under a level 3 “go now” evacuation notice on August 4. Other notable trails that remain open in the Mount Hood area as of this writing include Mirror Lake, Ramona Falls, Tamanawas Falls, Trillium Lake Loop, McNeil Point, and others on the eastern side of Mount Hood.
