Sony may be planning to relaunch a version of the WH-1000XM4 noise cancelling headphones, despite the erstwhile classics being succeeded twice in the last six years. According to a new leak, Sony may choose to bring back the XM4 cans next month. They would maintain the hardware within the original 2020 model, but contain a slightly smaller battery. It’s not immediately clear why Sony would consider placing the WH-1000XM4 earphones back in a crowded field at this stage. However, the current generation Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones, which went on sale in May 2025, started at £400 / $450 / €450.
