On August 31, Guild Hall in East Hampton will host a one-night-only reading of The Big Chill featuring an all-star cast of actors coming together to support The Center at West Park’s fight to preserve Manhattan’s historic West Park Presbyterian Church, located at Amsterdam at 86th Street. Directed by David Saint, the staged reading of the beloved 1983 film’s screenplay will be followed by a conversation with the cast and creative team, moderated by CNN anchor Dana Bash. The event comes at a critical moment for the 136-year-old church, which has become the center of a preservation battle over its future. The arts nonprofit, The Center at West Park, has been leading the effort to save the historic building, with Hollywood previously rallying behind the cause. Last November, Alec Baldwin and Scarlett Johansson took part in a staged reading of All About Eve to benefit the preservation effort.
