Dundee United youngster Charlie Dewar has joined Championship side Arbroath on a season-long loan. Dewar, 19, enjoyed a splendid campaign with Alloa Athletic last season, earning a place in PFA Scotland’s League One team of the year. However, the plan was always to find a suitable Championship club where he could play regular first-team football in the coming campaign. Ayr United were initially in pole position but they were able to re-sign Leon King, filling that centre-back position. He could be in the Lichties’ squad for Saturday’s visit of Inverness and will link up with fellow United kid Scott Constable at Gayfield.
