Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said he will go around the world banging the drum about the quality of Fife’s shipbuilding industry during a visit to Babcock in Rosyth. During his visit on Friday, the defence secretary said the UK Government was “proud” of the shipbuilding taking place in Fife. “Throughout the course of the Type 31 programme, the manufacturing process has evolved and improved, become more efficient. Four generations of shipyard workersThe Defence Secretary toured Babcock’s facility where the Royal Navy’s Type 31 frigates are being built and met with workers and apprentices. “I know how hard he is working on new export orders of Type 31 and I hope we will hear good news soon on submarine recycling and contingent dock facilities.
