Victory Vaka, WKU’s former defensive lineman removed from the team after a two-month absence following the death of his mother, filed a lawsuit against the NCAA. CBS Sports reported the lawsuit was filed in a court in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, arguing that Vaka would “suffer irreparable injury, loss or damage without temporary injunctive relief.” CBS Sports said Vaka planned to enter the transfer portal, but WKU processed his dismissal as a “failure to report.” This disciplinary dismissal prevents use of the NCAA’s aid reduction or cancellation exemption, leaving him unable to enter the transfer portal and play his final season. According to CBS Sports, Vaka wasn’t called to speak with the NCAA during his appeals process.
