Food trucks will have an easier path to operate on Milan City property after City Council approved the city’s first standalone food truck policy.
The policy creates a separate process for vendors operating outside larger events after food truck operators raised concerns that the Special Events policy was costly and difficult to navigate.
Previously, food trucks operating outside larger events had to use the Special Events process, which required a 90 days’ notice.
Because food trucks require a traffic control order, they were automatically classified as Class III events or higher, with costs starting at $500.
New PolicyUnder the new policy, food trucks pay a nonrefundable $10 application fee, which is applied toward the permit fee.
