Last week, it was announced that Guggenheim Abu Dhabi would be opening on December 11, 2026.
What a lot of people probably don’t know is that a Kuwaiti design studio was involved in creating its Arabic visual identity.
As part of the Guggenheim’s global rebranding, the museum’s New York headquarters commissioned local designer Fahad Al Hunaif from TB.D Studio to create the Arabic version of the new identity for Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
TB.D then worked with lettering artist Khajag Apelian to create not only the Arabic Guggenheim logo, but also a full-fledged custom Arabic typeface that became part of the museum’s visual identity, appearing across signage, print and digital materials, and more.
Then, two years ago, I posted about how he won Best Book Design of the Year at the prestigious AIGA Awards.
