Government’s procurement reforms prioritise jobs over net-zero
['Matilda Cox']

The Government is reshaping how it doles out billions in public contracts.
The objective: to inject taxpayer money directly into British jobs and local communities.
Under the new bidding rules, suppliers will be judged based on their commitment to generating local benefits, including through creating high-quality jobs in the UK, tackling skills shortages and supporting young people into work through apprenticeships and placements.
This rule applies to both UK and international suppliers with contracts worth £5m or more.
These new rules will ensure the £90bn that is spent each year through Government contracts supports British jobs, skills and people in every postcode.”
