Lidl GB scales Olio surplus food partnership to almost 200 stores

A pilot scheme involving nearly 200 Lidl stores has demonstrated the tangible impact of diverting surplus food.
Lidl GB and Neighbourly stated that the scheme, which allows shoppers to collect surplus food from Lidl stores for free via the Olio app, will be rolled out nationwide by the end of 2026.
The scheme recruits volunteers, known as ‘Food Waste Heroes’, who collect food that cannot be held overnight and deliver it to local people.
Ask edie...Lidl GB stated that the Food Waste Heroes scheme saw a positive response in local communities.
Lidl GB set this target as it is already on track to achieve its FY2025 target of a 50% reduction.
