National Grid is committing substantial funds to a massive green grid upgrade in Yorkshire. National Grid has appointed Escrick Park Estate to support the delivery of BNG for Yorkshire GREEN, a £400m project to upgrade the UK’s electricity network. Yorkshire GREEN will provide 10% BNG with the enhancements delivered through partnership via the purchase of 300 biodiversity units at Escrick Park’s Skipwith Connected initiative. Skipwith Connected is a landscape-scale nature recovery project between York and Selby, approximately 12 miles from the Yorkshire GREEN project. According to National Grid, it will be prioritising BNG projects in areas identified in the Government’s Local Nature Recovery Strategies.
