Netflix has tapped Kirill Sokolov, the helmer behind horror action movie They Will Kill You, to direct the original sci-fi thriller Blur. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will produce via 21 Laps. Sokolov is the Russian filmmaker who broke out with Why Don’t You Just Die, his 2019 dark crime action comedy that was infused with early Tarantino influences. After writing and directing another Russian dark action comedy, No Looking Back, he journeyed to the U.S. in the early 2020s, he landed in Hollywood as he tried to land representation and work. He made his English-language debut earlier this year with They Will Kill You, an action-horror-comedy released by Warner Bros. in March.
