LONG CREEK — Grant County’s latest wildfire will see an incident management team take over firefighting efforts the day after it was reported. The Cottonwood Fire was reported on Aug. 6 and is located 15 miles southwest of Long Creek. The fire has burned 705 acres and is 0% contained. Jessica Neujahr, a public affairs officer for the Oregon Department of Forestry, said there was a positive extended attack done on the fire last night. She said a Type 3 Central Oregon Fire Management Service team will take command of the fire at 4 p.m. today.
