West Suburban Medical Center received a bomb threat early Wednesday morning that was determined to be unfounded, according to the Village of Oak Park. The Oak Park Police Department responded to the call at 7:15 a.m., on Aug. 5, where they met with the hospital’s chief of security to confirm the threat. The chief of security “related the hospital frequently receives calls of this nature,” however, this incident was the first time a bomb threat on WSMC was reported to Oak Park Police this year, wrote a village spokesperson in an email to Wednesday Journal. The hospital abruptly ended patient care in late March of this year, and the Village of Oak Park shut down the building completely in June after its last working elevator failed. Resilience Healthcare owner and hospital CEO Manoj Prasad and Reddy Rathnaker Patlola, his business partner and landlord, remain at the forefront of attention surrounding WSMC with ongoing legal battles.
