Representational; PhotoSrinagar- The High Court of J&K and Ladakh on Friday quashed the order under the Public Safety Act (PSA) against a Shopian resident, holding that he had almost undergone the period of detention. A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Kumar and Justice Mohd Yousuf Wani passed the judgment while allowing an appeal filed by Ubaid Yousuf Kuttay, challenging the Single Bench judgment dated 8 November 2025, which had dismissed his petition. ADVERTISEMENTKuttay had been detained pursuant to detention order No. 189/DMS/PSA/2024 dated September 12, 2024, issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian, under Section 8 of the PSA on the ground of security of the State. Consequently, the court quashed the detention order and directed that Kuttay, a resident of Chotipora, Shopian, be released from preventive detention in the case, provided he is not involved in any other case.
