Scam Targeting Aging ParentsMy dad had been convinced to mail over $3,000 in cash inside a box after someone claimed a tax return payment was incorrectly sent to his bank. They even walked him through what to tell the bank teller when he asked to withdraw a large amount of cash so it wouldn't raise any flags. Another call from dad this week involved an entirely different scam involving home improvements. While talking to him this week, my dad said, "Looks like we're going to need a whole new roof on the house." All just to gain trust and get personal bank account information or cash payments.
