Governor Greg Abbott on Friday touted that under his current term the crime rate in Texas fell for the third consecutive year, according to new Uniform Crime Reporting data released by the Texas Department of Public Safety. “Tough laws and strong law enforcement have reduced crime every year since 2023,” said Governor Abbott. “We passed the toughest bail reform package in state history, backed law enforcement, and targeted violent repeat offenders. The consistent decline in the crime rate reflects the results of those priorities and build on the Governor’s commitment to protecting law-abiding Texans by ensuring dangerous criminals remain behind bars where they belong.
