(ABC 6 News) – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says it plans to move its inmates out of the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center after the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners approved a significant increase in the daily rate to house detainees. Rose said Dodge County has housed its inmates in the Olmsted County jail for the past four years and described the partnership with Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson and detention center staff as “outstanding.” According to the letter, Dodge County typically houses eight to 10 inmates per day in the Olmsted County facility. In essence this will likely force the Dodge County Sheriff to remove the 8-12 detainees from Dodge County daily to leave. Over the past three years Olmsted County has received on average $200,000 from Dodge County for housing their detainees in our facility.
