Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Charles Kanjama called for greater accountability and integrity within the legal profession following the recent arrests of two advocates over separate allegations involving the misappropriation of client funds and a fake gold scam. “The gravity of these allegations calls for serious introspection within the Bar,” Kanjama said. The two lawyers are facing separate allegations involving the misappropriation of Sh49.4 million in client funds and participation in a Sh61.8 million fake gold scheme. “Where an advocate is accused of misappropriating client funds, the consequences extend far beyond the individual concerned. Kanjama urged advocates to embrace self-regulation by holding one another accountable and taking decisive action against unethical conduct within the profession.
