The EU voted through five new sanctions listings targeting Russia's military-industrial complex on Aug. 7, Kaja Kallas, the EU's top diplomat, said. Russia has taken advantage of Ukraine's lack of adequate air defenses to bombard Kyiv and civilian areas across the country. "Each new attack on Ukraine is another reason for Europe to tighten the screws on Russia," Kallas wrote. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha thanked Kallas for pushing through the latest EU sanctions, and reiterated that "every act of terror must be met with a resolute response." "The EU must continue to intensify pressure on Russia until Moscow ends its war," Kallas wrote.
