ReportCHARSADDA: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) on Friday staged a sit-in at the Charsadda motorway interchange against the increase in petroleum prices, petroleum levy, inflation and unemployment.
The speakers criticised the petroleum levy, saying it had placed an additional burden on already struggling consumers.
The speakers claimed that a petroleum levy of up to Rs140 per litre was unfair to consumers.
They said that if petroleum prices were to be linked with international market rates, the levy should also be withdrawn.
The JI leaders also criticised the government’s power policies, alleging that people had been burdened with heavy electricity bills and rising fuel prices.
