Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Clare Moody pulled on gloves at a Bristol charity Empire Fighting Chance (EFC) event, titled Fighting Barriers, Stronger Together.
This included a boxing session and roundtable that brought young people and police officers together for frank discussions about violence, trust and policing.
EFC uses non-contact boxing as early intervention with children and teenagers at risk of exclusion, exploitation, or criminal activity.
Following the visit, Ms Moody confirmed funding for the charity to run a new Box Champions programme in South Gloucestershire.
"We know that the work being delivered by Empire Fighting Chance gives young people the confidence and opportunities to fulfil their potential and make safe choices."
