The race, which will begin and end in Cockermouth, will pass through West Cumbria on August 19 as part of its opening stage. Cumberland Council has awarded more than £31,600 through its Community Grants programme to help organisations deliver projects that encourage cycling, bring communities together, and make the most of the national event. 12 organisations from across West Cumbria have received funding to deliver activities and events linked to the race. These include cycling sessions for women and girls, inclusive cycling opportunities, training in bike maintenance, community performances, and creative projects designed to build excitement and engagement along the route. The race will pass through Asby, Whitehaven, Lowca, Workington, Flimby, Maryport, Allonby, Silloth, Wigton, Caldbeck, and Aspatria before returning to Cockermouth.
