Ashley Ryan, 31, of Altrincham Road in Manchester, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while above the legal limit at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday.
DJ McGarva called for a pre-sentence report on the defendant which was delivered on the same day.
The incident took place around a week before the dangerous driving.
Ryan received 34 weeks for dangerous driving and a concurrent four-week sentence for drink-driving, suspended for 12 months.
He will have to complete 10 rehabilitation activity days and was banned from driving for two years for both offences, with an extended re-test ordered for dangerous driving.
