Work is now underway on the third phase of the Muckish Railway Walk following the appointment of W. Doherty Construction Ltd. as the contractor. The latest phase will see new surfacing laid along the remaining 3.5km section of the former railway line, completing the existing Muckish Railway Walk project. The appointment of W. Doherty Construction Ltd. follows the publication of the project tender by Donegal County Council in April. "I very much welcome this next stage of the Muckish Railway Walk," he said. The Muckish Railway Walk follows part of the former Letterkenny to Burtonport railway, which closed in 1947.
