Man (20s) faces Sex Offenders Act charge at Donegal court

A man has appeared before court in Donegal charged with failing to comply with sex offender notification requirementsThe man, who is in his 20s, and cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Judge Brendan O’Reilly at Donegal District Court, sitting at Ballyshannon courthouse.
He has now been charged with being in possession of a controlled drug, cannabis, at a Garda station, on August 4, 2026.
Advertisement AdvertisementThe charge is contrary to section 12 (1) (a) (as amended by section 10 of the Sex Offenders (Amendment) Act 2023) and section 12 (3) (as amended by section 13 of the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act, 2008) of the Sex Offenders Act, 2001.
He was remanded on bail to appear before a further court sitting in September for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
He was ordered to commit no further offence, be of good behaviour and to turn up to the next court sitting.
