Police were called at 1.51pm on Friday (August 7) to reports of a truck colliding with the bridges on Priory Lane in Little Wymondley. The incident forced some lines between Stevenage and Hitchin to shut or have temporary speed restrictions while the damage was assessed. Services between Stevenage, Hitchin, Cambridge and Peterborough are expected to remain affected by delays. Network Rail has since confirmed the strike did not damage the railway line, with services allowed to resume at 2.57pm. A spokesperson said: "Vehicle bridge strikes like this cause unnecessary disruption for rail passengers and road users – but they can be avoided.
