A ewe lamb from the Chaileybrook flock reached 1,600gns at Saturday’s sale in Worcester, setting a new ewe lamb breed record. Hannah Davidson from Ellesmere, Shropshire, purchased the second-highest priced female, Beiliau Victoria, a shearling ewe that sold for 1,350gns. Northumbria 25/00431, a shearling ewe from Gordon and Matthew Sparke of Stewkley, Buckinghamshire, achieved 1,200gns and was bought by James Allman of Edenbridge, Kent. Their second-placed ram lamb, Chaileybrook Galileo, sold for 1,450gns to the Goodwood flock at the Goodwood Estate, Chichester, Sussex. With strong demand and record-setting prices, the sale once again highlighted the quality and growing interest in Southdown sheep.
