Matthew Davies, owner of The New Marches Cafe in Bewell Street, has revealed that he will be stepping away from the cafe, which will come under new ownership in September, so he can focus on his Butter Market stall.
Mr Davies said it was a "tough decision", but as the Butter Market stall continues to expand into more catering and events, and is expanding, he felt it was the right time to relinquish the cafe.
He has revealed that his sister, Holly Davies, will be taking over the cafe, which opened in September 2025.
Mr Davies opened his Butter Market stall in 2021, in a nod to his grandparents, Sylvia and Ivor Vale, who set up The Marches in Union Street in 1972.
His grandparents had originally owned The Marches Health Food Shop in Union Street, and upon its success, opened a cafe next door.
