Four districts remain under red alert due to heavy rainfall conditions, while authorities continue to assess the situation. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for seven districts in Kerala on August 8, 2026, warning of heavy rainfall in these areas. Educational institutions in Kozhikode, Kasaragod, Kasaragod, Thrissur, Kottayam, Wayanad and Kannur districts will remain closed on Saturday. The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall in Kerala from August 7 to August 11, 2026, with isolated heavy rainfall possible on August 7 and 8. The Kozhikode district administration announced that the holiday will apply to schools, Anganwadis, Madrasas and tuition centres, except professional colleges.
