The government notified the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 on February 25, 2021, under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The rules established an institutional mechanism for publishers of digital news and online curated content, including OTT platforms, to ensure accountability and responsible publishing practices.
