Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation is hosting their annual competition powwow on August 7-9. “Every year that it brings a really good healing feeling to our nation,” said Powwow President Sharyln Crookedneck. A Men’s Grass Dance Special, Ladies Jingle versus Men’s Grass Special, Women’s Traditional Cradleboard Special, all intended for dancers 18 years or older. “Some families have memorial tournaments for their loved ones,” explained Janelle Chief, a member of the Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation Powwow Committee. Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation will be celebrating their annual powwow in their new powwow arbour, the community has also cleared some trees to improve the view of the lake for the celebration.
