A global problem came dramatically home to roost as Loganair cited the challenging operating environment for the loss of the flights. Yesterday, the Scottish Government a £1 million rescue package with transport secretary at Inverness Airport to confirm the “absolutely brilliant news”. 2 – 5 June 2026 Loganair officially confirms drastic reductions to the Inverness-Kirkwall-Sumburgh routes and the Inverness-Stornoway route. Ministers confirm a funding package of up to £1.06 million, paid directly to HIAL, to bridge the structural financial gap.
