Evanston residents told to shelter in place amid ‘high pressure gas line break'

Update: As of 1:45 p.m., officials said the leak has stopped but crews remain at the scene completing repairs.
The shelter in place was lifted, but it remained unclear when the roadway would reopen for traffic.
Evanston officials urged several residents to shelter in place amid a "high pressure gas line break" in part of the north Chicago suburb.
WATCH HERE WATCH HEREThe Evanston Fire Department said the break happened Friday morning in front of 2145 Ridge Ave."The Evanston Fire Department and Nicor Gas are on scene to manage the situation," the city said in an alert to residents.
"No evacuations are necessary at this time; however, community members in the area should shelter in place."
