New details are unfolding after more than 50 bodies were found in "various stages of decomposition" at a funeral home in Chicago Thursday, with the funeral operators' "egregious past practices" leading to their licenses being suspended and an investigation underway. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, dozens of decomposing bodies were discovered Thursday at the South Chicago Chapel funeral home, located at 2939 E. 95th St. in South Deering. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation said the license of registered funeral director Johanna Morgan was suspended one day prior. In 2024, Morgan's husband Clark, who previously held a funeral director and embalmer intern license, had his credentials suspended. "To hear these same operators are doing the same thing again at South Chicago Chapel Funeral Home is infuriating."
