U.S. farmland values have climbed nearly 44% since 2020

The increases continue a dramatic run-up in agricultural real estate since 2020.
Average farm real estate values are now nearly 44 percent higher than they were six years ago, while cropland values have risen 48 percent and pastureland values nearly 43 percent.
“The average value of U.S. farm real estate, which includes land and buildings, rose 3.4 percent to $4,500 per acre.
Rising real estate values add equity to farm balance sheets and can provide additional collateral when producers seek financing.
Farm real estate values have jumped 76 percent in Kansas, 65 percent in Nebraska, and 61 percent in South Dakota.
