The National Association of Waste Disposal Officers (NAWDO) is calling for central government action after several councils have reported problems with fridge and freezer recycling. Issues have arisen at authorities including Southend-on-Sea City Council, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire and Norfolk CCs, and Bath & North East Somerset Council. NAWDO added: “The government must also act to address a broken system. Warwickshire CC has suspended accepting all fridges and freezers at household waste recycling centres (HWRC). Southend-on-Sea City Council has also suspended disposals at its recycling centres.
