Rice traders across the country are calling on the government to intervene in the manner in which the Ministry of Trade has been issuing permits for rice imports after many traders were denied the permits required to import rice into Uganda. According to the traders, only 25 companies were granted import permits, leaving many traders stranded with their consignments at the border.
