Social media intermediaries are further directed to proactively flag content depicting rape or child sexual abuse. The IT enforcement over deepfakes and AI content is backed by the IT Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, and the IT Rules. Per the PIB report, IIT Jodhpur and IIT Madras have built Saakshya, a multi-agent deepfake detection framework, while IIT Kharagpur is developing a real-time voice deepfake detection system.
