Brendan Wren, from Sudbury, has Asperger's syndrome and receives treatment for a traumatic brain injury and spinal injury.
His wife, Laura, who lives in Colchester, is his full-time carer and regularly drives him to Bury St Edmunds, where he receives the majority of his care.
He said he's asked for a property in Bury St Edmunds with his wife, but was provided with listings for Witham, Ipswich and Lowestoft.
The council said that due to his request, he would need to approach West Suffolk Council, which covers Bury St Edmunds.
Brendan has now approached West Suffolk Council, who have offered him and his wife a place in Long Melford.
