Today, CRL pauses to honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of America’s Purple Heart recipients. It’s observed each year on August 7th. It recognizes the brave service members who were wounded or gave their lives in defense of our nation. Originally established by General George Washington as the Badge of Military Merit, the Purple Heart remains one of the nation’s oldest and most revered military decorations.
