Christopher Quigley thought he was talking to a child online but was chatting with an undercover police officer who was out to catch paedophiles. The 44-year-old had only recently been released from prison for previous child sex offences when he was arrested on Fulford Grove, Watford on April 20. Prosecutor Serena Lit said that on March 3, a police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl on a chat app received a message from the username ‘Shy Chris’. He then went missing for several days before reappearing under a new username ‘Shy Christopher’, telling the ‘child’ he had dropped his old phone down the toilet. Benjamin Waller, defending, said his client was a “damaged, damaged individual”.
