Shannon Bragg, from Latchford, appeared before Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to the importation of cannabis.
Prosecuting, Simon Barrett told the court that the 27-year-old landed at Manchester Airport on June 2 after flying from Bangkok.
It was heard that Bragg was offered ‘a free holiday’ by those above her in the operation if she took the suitcases back to the UK.
Though he noted that the offence warrants a sentence of imprisonment, Judge Dean told Bragg that the time that she had spent in custody on remand is ‘punishment enough for her’.
Though a sentence of imprisonment would have been ‘justified’, Judge Dean instead sentenced the 27-year-old to a 12-month community order.
