A collision occurred on Burford Lane, Lymm, Warrington Borough Council confirmed, on Wednesday, July 22. The council stated that one of the refuse collection vehicles ‘did unfortunately strike the bridge over the Bridgewater Canal’. A spokesperson for WBC said: "The incident was reported to Cheshire Police and council officers are working with Peel, the owners of the bridge. Peel Ports has been contacted for comment on the incident but have not yet provided a response. Meanwhile, ‘internal investigations’ are continuing, the council stated, to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
